Resources

Here are a few resources, curiosities, and links of interest I’ve found in my internet wanderings that wouldn’t fit in the blogroll. Totally bookmark-able, this lot!

Buy Fresh, Buy Local Campaign —Enter your zipcode and find local produce growers and distributors within an adjustable range! (CA only, as of July 2011)

Environmental Working Group —The go-to guys for information regarding responsibility toward the planet. I recommend their Shopper’s Guide to Pesticides in Produce. Sign up for their newsletter, you won’t regret it.

Plastic-free Living Guide —Beth Terry’s continually updated, self-tested guide to eliminating your plastic use and consumption. & if you can’t find an answer in the guide, there is probably one in the comments!

45 Homemade Foods You Can Make Yourself —I stumbled upon this gem the other day while setting up for the Great Cornflake Fail of 2011. Check it out, and see if there is anything you can DIY instead of buying in wasteful packaging!

Freecycle —Sign up and see what free stuff is circulating around your city, while finding new homes for items that take up space&mdahs;without consigning them to a landfill.

& of course, Craigslist. Under the For Sale/Wanted section, there is a link that says “Free.” ‘Nuff said.
